If you take a trip to the Tower of London in the near future you may spot our illustrations on display.
Ludic Creatives partnered with Historic Royal Palaces to create an illustrated animation to accompany an audio documentary called 'Sounds of the Tower'. The documentary was produced by local young people (age 11-25) to give an insight into their experiences of the Tower of London.

This project is about how a shared experience was created for a diverse audience by synthesising large amounts of audio into a visual story.
An audio documentary requires active listening in order to get the most out of it. With just one sensory point for an audience to focus on – audio - this can sometimes be difficult with the challenges of outside distractions
With this challenge in mind, Ludic's Film & Animation Studio designed an animation using a series of illustrated vignettes. Each one visually summarised a short section of the documentary such as a story, character or event in a playful way. This offered a multi-sensory dimension to the material which brought the audio to life. What's more, the viewer always had a visual frame of reference to snap their minds back to, should they lose focus on the audio.
The animation will soon be available to all Tower of London visitors via the Digital Visitors Guide.
